Foggy Morning, Froggy Evening in Waterford

Five things to help you plan your day on Tuesday, April 13, 2013, in Waterford

1. Weather Alert: The National Weather Service has issued a special weather alert this morning warning of dense fog in Southern New London County, particularly near bodies of water. Be prepared for areas of dense fog that may reduce visibility to less than one-quarter of a mile.

2. Bring an Umbrella. There's an 80 percent chance of rain today, a 30 percent chance of rain this evening, and the possibility of thunderstorms throughout the day and into this evening. Temperatures will top out at 71 degrees with an overnight low of 61 degrees, according to Weather.com

3. What's on at the Library? Creepers and Leapers, a program with live frogs, snakes and salamanders providing a hands-on introduction to the interesting adaptations of our native amphibians and reptiles presented by Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center at Waterford Public Library at 6 p.m. All ages with an adult.

4. Deadline Approaching: If your child is reading over the summer, you can enter to win a $250 college savings bond from the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET). Entries for the random drawing in the Reading Makes $cents award must be received by August 23, postmarked by August 16.

5. Correction: Waterford Week's Family Movie Night is listed on Patch with the right date but the wrong day. It was held August 12, but that was Monday not Thursday. In the writer's defense, the information was copied directly from the official Waterford Week web site. Still, my apologies to those who missed seeing “Despicable Me” as a result of the error.
