Oswegatchie Fifth-Graders Give Lasting Gift to School, Principal

Friday, on Arbor Day, the Oswegatchie Class of 2013 left a gift for their fellow classmates and retiring principal that should last forever, or at least for some time.

Friday, the Oswegatchie fifth-grade class gave a tree - a flowering crabapple - as their class gift. The students, with the help of Jim Nieuwenhuis of Stonington Gardens, planted the tree Friday afternoon.

They also dedicated it to their principal, Nancy Macione, who is retiring at the end of the year. To top it off, Tri-County Memorial donated a stone inscribed with, "Dedicated by Oswegatchie School, Class of 2013."
