Gales Ferry Resident Inducted to CT Veterans Hall of Fame
Gales Ferry resident Glenn Neal Arthur Jr. is a U.S. Navy veteran and former State Representative from the 42nd district.

Gales Ferry resident Glenn Neal Arthur Jr. was inducted into the 2015 Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the State Legislative Office Building.
Arthur, a U.S. Navy veteran and former State Representative from the 42nd district, was recognized for his lifetime of public service and continued commitment to the state. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame with 10 other state residents, one recognized posthumously.
State Representatives John Scott (R-40) and Mike France (R-42) were in attendance.

“Mr. Arthur is the epitome of commitment and service to both our local community and our nation and I can think of no one more deserving of this honor,” Rep. Scott said. “His long naval career and dedicated service as an elected official are the hallmarks of a man who always puts serving others first and one who endeavors to always make his community a better place.”
“It was an honor to attend the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame induction ceremony that recognized the tremendous accomplishments of Mr. Glenn Arthur during his lifetime of selfless service,” Rep. France said. “As a retired Navy veteran and the current State Representative for the 42nd district, I can appreciate some of the significant sacrifices he has made in serving our community and nation. I aspire to represent the 42nd district as well as Mr. Arthur did during his 10-year tenure. I thank him for all he has done and know that he has set the bar high in our region.”

Arthur served as a submariner in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, including a tour as the Commanding officer of the USS William Bates. His last assignment was as Deputy Chief of Staff of Submarine Squadron Ten, based at the Naval Submarine Base in New London.
After his retirement, he was elected to serve as State Representative for the 42nd district. He was a long-time member of the Groton-New London Rotary club and an active member of the Gales Ferry United Methodist Church, a member of the Ledyard Board of Education from 1981-1983 and a life member of the Navy league.
The Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame was created by Governor M. Jodi Rell in 2005 to recognize the post-military achievements of outstanding veterans and to spotlight the substantial contributions of veterans to communities across the state.
Rep. Scott represents the 40th district covering Groton and Ledyard.
Rep. France represents the 42nd district covering Ledyard, Preston and Montville.
