Traffic Ahead—And More For Waterford

1. The forecast doesn't look good for events that are scheduled outdoors this evening. Today, expect cloudy skies to bring rain showers. The high temperature is relatively low at 71 degrees with an overnight low of 63 degrees, according to weather.com. There's a 40 percent chance of rain, although it's possible that those rain clouds will diminish as the day progresses. 

2. An Evening With Judy Collins is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford. This show will happen regardless of the weather. Check back with Patch later to find out about the rain venue should the event be washed out.

Board of Education meets at 7 p.m., This is the Board of Education's annual retreat and it will be held at the LEARN Conference Room in Old Lyme.

  • Evanston: A Rare Comedy, by Michael Yates Crowley, Eugene O'Neill Theater Center Amphitheater 8:15 p.m.- 10:15 p.m.  
4. If you're going out to play at the casinos this evening, be aware that the Montville Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Thursday July 25 into the early morning hours of Friday July 26.  

5. Traffic is notoriously bad on Friday, as people are heading to Connecticut and through Connecticut to the Cape or southbound to New York, New Jersey and beyond.This Friday, however, is going to be worse than usual. 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced construction activities for the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing from Friday, July 26 to Monday, July 29, 2013 as traffic is shifted onto the new I-95 southbound lanes of the Pearl Harbor Memorial (Q) Bridge. 

In short, if you've got to drive through New Haven, do it today.
