A tree fell onto a power line in Niantic River Road in Waterford, turning out the lights from Kiddie Beach to Old Niantic River Road. Niantic River Road is closed but traffic is being diverted along Old Niantic River Road.
Oswegatchie firehouse engine 42 responded to the call which came in initially as a transformer explosion. Oswegatchie firehouse Capt. Sylvester said the incident happened.at about 9 p.m. and that It might take a couple of hours to clear the road.
