Retired After 50 Years, East Lyme Firefighter Still Finds Ways To Serve: Heroes Who Serve

EAST LYME, CONNECTICUT — Connecticut’s first responders work tirelessly to protect and serve their communities. That’s why Patch and T-Mobile have teamed up to spotlight EMTs, firefighters and police officers who go the extra mile.

Tell us about the first responder and how they serve the community.

Ed started as a volunteer firefighter at a young age in the Town of East Lyme. Ed spent countless hours training and making the community safer by bringing his experiences home. He served in several elective positions including Chief of Department. He then became a firefighter for General Dynamics/Electric Boat. After several yrs there, he became a career firefighter back in his hometown. After a total of 50 yrs, Ed retired from being a career firefighter, but still is an active volunteer and active in Connecticut's fire service associations
