Sandcastles and Smiles at Waterford Beach
No big prizes, no heated competition, just family fun on the beach on the Fourth of July.
This year's Fourth of July sandcastle competition at Waterford Beach was a toned down affair compared to previous years.
As competition had grown ever more intense and complaints about fair play ever more numerous, the town decided to make it a kids-only contest this summer to bring it back to the competition's original intent, which was simply to give families something fun to do on the Fourth of July.
Judging by the smiles, it looks as if everyone was a winner this year.
