Steel Drums and Stormy Weather Heading Our Way

Five things to help you plan your day, Wednesday, August 7, in Waterford.

1. Our recent streak of perfect weather looks to be coming to an end. The day will start out sunny with a high temperature of 76 degrees and a low of 67 degrees,Β but weather.com is predicting that clouds will roll in bringing a 20 percent chance of rain during the day and a 40 percent chance of rain tonight. We could also see some scattered thunderstorms later tonight.Β

2. Let's hope the thunderstorms do hold off because this evening's free concert at Waterford Beach Park looks to be a good one. It'sΒ Xisles, a steel drum band that promises to transport us all musically to a tropical island in the Caribbean. The concert runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. You can find out what else is coming here.Β

3. Speaking of music and weather, after having theΒ Judy Collins show go on despite the rain, Bring Our Music Back is taking no chances with the Duke Ellington Band on Thursday. That concert will be held at the Garde Arts Center in New London, and it will also be the last event this season.Β Β

4. Just one meeting inΒ Waterford tonight. TheΒ Flood and Erosion Committee meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

5. If you're looking for cooking tips, join our live lunch chat today with ChefΒ Chris Avtges of "Chopped" fame. The chat starts at noon.Β
