UPDATE: Wandering Waterford Cat Jumps Into Car; Refuses to Leave
Hank the cat has been through a lot in his life. But after a short time on Facebook, he has a new home.
Less than four hours after Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control posted a photo of Hank the cat on its Facebook page, he found his new family.
“Wow, in less than four hours on the page and Hank, aka Guinness, has been adopted! He is on his way to a new loving home,” the ACO wrote. “Good luck buddy!”

Hank the cat was roaming about near Waterford High School and was clearly tired of the vagabond life. He leapt into someone’s car and didn’t want to leave, the Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control officer said in a Facebook post.
Hank is resting easy at the animal shelter and recently came back from a vet’s appointment.

“Hank was taken to the vet and has been diagnosed with diabetes,” the ACO said. “This requires daily insulin injections and a special diet of veterinary food to control. Sadly we cannot maintain the care and medication at the shelter for any lengthy amount of time. The illness will make it difficult to find a home for him, so to give him a better chance we are advertising him to rescue groups within the state for a 14-day period.”
Five year-old Hank is neutered and quite sweet. His adoption fee is wavered due to his illness and the anticipated cost of medication.
Donations may be made to the shelter to assist in his care. All correspondence with the ACO must be through email at aco@waterfordct.org.
