Waterford Police Increasing Seatbelt Enforcement

The Click It or Ticket campaign begins in November 2015.

The Waterford Police Department is joining with hundreds of other law enforcement agencies across the country in renewing a pledge to save lives by intensifying efforts to enforce seat belt laws among all motorists during the 2015 “Click It or Ticket, WAVE 49” mobilization, running from November 23-30, 2015.

Increased Law enforcement activities will be conducted during this mobilization, police said. Officers will target seat belt usage as well as DUI, speeding and all other motor vehicle violations. Officers will also be conducting a seat belt checkpoint.

The Waterford Police department urges all motorists to voluntarily participate in safe, responsible motor vehicle operation, and offers the reminder that, “regular seat belt use is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce motor vehicle crash fatalities. Wearing your seat belt is easy and costs you nothing. Not wearing it might cost you a ticket, or worse – your life.”
