Where's My Mummy? Look Inside Waterford Public Library's Children's Department

A display of sarcophagi created by LEARN students at Waterford Library encourages students to unlock the mysteries of Ancient Egypt

The words, "Where's my mummy?" have taken on a whole new meaning at the Children's section of Waterford Public Library this week.

On Tuesday, a display of 12 of a total of 24 sarcophagi created by 3rd and 4th graders from Waterford, New London, and Norwich schools in the LEARN program officially opened. "Unlocking the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt" was the result of the LEARN-Magical Mystery Tour Program coordinated by Lisa M. Finley.

The Sarcophagi were created by Rita Quiles-Glover's 4th grade class at Oswegatchie Elementary School in Waterford; Jody Barthel and Don Doushee's 4th grade students from Winthrop Magnet Elementary School in New London; Susan Makowicki's 4th grade class from Veterans Memorial Elementary in Norwich; Jessica McKay's 3rd and 4th grade students from Integrated Day Charter School in Norwich; and Dawn Poitras's 4th grade class from Moriarty Elementary School in Norwich.

The display will be on view through June. You can find out more about the program on Learn's Website at http://www.learn.k12.ct.us
