Celebrate America's 250th At Special Event In West Hartford Thursday

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The patriotic events in line with the United States' 250th birthday next year are ramping up, with one event taking place this week in West Hartford.
The public is invited to sign up for a free lecture, "The Original Promise of America," on Thursday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society, 227 S. Main St., West Hartford.

The lecture is one of a series exploring how the Revolutionary generation — Noah Webster's generation — defined the purposes and prospects of their new nation.
It is held in conjunction with West Hartford’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

Doors open to the presentation at 6 p.m., and seating is on a first-come come-first first-served basis.
Seating is limited to 50 guests, and registration is available now.
The lecturer is Gene Leach, a long-time resident of West Hartford who taught United States history and American Studies at Trinity College in Hartford until his retirement in 2012.
Leach came to Trinity College in 1975 with degrees from Harvard, Michigan, and Yale.
His scholarship has centered on American social thought and this country’s working class.
Leach has written, lectured, and served on governing boards for several organizations devoted to Connecticut history and culture, including the West Hartford Historical Society.
