High School Football Player In West Hartford Honored For Community Service

The CIAC named the high school senior an 'IKEA Student Community Champion' for his work helping the community.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A Hall High School senior who just completed his last high school football season was honored by the state's high school sports governing body for his community service.

Hall High School senior Solomon Leva was recently named a Connecticut Interscholastic Athletics Conference " Ikea Student Community Champion," according to the CIAC.

The honor, sponsored by the furniture retail giant, fetes student-athletes for their work off the field as much as on the field.

"Solomon Levy has embraced the important responsibility of coordinating community service initiatives for the football program," wrote the CIAC in an announcement.

• He organized an event where team members visited Dignity Grows in West Hartford and assemble care packages for men in need.

• Levy organized a car wash with proceeds benefitting the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.

"In this role as team captain, Solomon understands that true leadership is defined by the ability to prioritize the needs of others above one's own," wrote IKEA and the CIAC.

"His actions exemplify this principle as he continually strives to uplift those around him and foster a spirit of giving back within the team."
