West Hartford Traffic Stop Leads To Gun, Drug Charges For Bloomfield Man: WHPD

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A motor vehicle stop in West Hartford this week resulted in a Bloomfield man facing several gun and drug charges.

According to the West Hartford Police Department, Sayvon Brown, 25, of Bloomfield, was charged with possession of a high-capacity magazine, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle (two counts), illegal possession of an assault weapon, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession with intent to sell, illegal possession of more than 5 ounces of cannabis, having tinted windows, and having a substantially obscurred number plate.

Brown is being held on a $400,000 bond and will next appear in Hartford Superior Court Feb. 25, according to online court records.

According to the WHPD, officers on Tuesday, Jan. 6, conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of 456 New Park Ave.

During the stop, the officers located a Glock 17 Gen 5 handgun equipped with a “Glock switch,” a Smith & Wesson M&P .380 Shield, an extended magazine containing 32 rounds, and approximately 146.85 grams of marijuana inside the vehicle.
