The Town of West Hartford Engineering Division is developing design plans for the Sedgwick Road Rehabilitation Project.

The project calls for the construction of numerous street features and safety improvements from South Main Street to Wardwell Road, in addition to roadway restriping from Wardwell Road to Ridgewood Road.

This rehabilitation includes the addition of bike lanes, reconfigured lane arrangements, curb extensions at select intersections, raised crosswalks, and median islands.

"Sedgwick Road connects various neighborhoods in town and serves as the primary access road for both Sedgwick Middle and Duffy elementary schools," wrote the town.

"The project aims to improve safety and mobility of this essential road for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike and will fulfill the town’s complete streets policy."

The project is funded by a State of Connecticut Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP) grant and is supplemented with town funds for a total estimated construction cost of $1,250,000.

Construction may begin this fall and will be completed by the end of 2026.
