Overwhelmed With Clutter? West Hartford Offering Some Help

West Hartford Social Services has a free program starting next month that helps folks de-clutter their homes to avoid a hoarding situation.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — With many of us about to get besieged with holiday gifts, stuff will inevitably pile up in our homes.

But for some, the accumulation of, for lack of a better word, "stuff" is more than just something to deal with each year. It can become a lifelong affliction.

The Town of West Hartford Social Services is offering a free 16-week support group to help residents who are ready to eliminate clutter and change the behaviors that lead to hoarding.

Starting on Jan. 6, 2026, the group meets on Tuesdays from 1 to 2:25 p.m. at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St.

Participants will:
· Learn about hoarding and cluttering behavior
· Gain practical tools and strategies
· Explore the emotional and psychological rooms
· Share experiences without judgment
· Receive ongoing encouragement and support

Advance registration is required as space is limited. The program is open to West Hartford residents only.
