Participants Sought For West Hartford Memorial Day Parade

West Hartford is asking veterans, residents, and organizations to sign up for the town's annual Memorial Day Parade on May 26.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Memorial Day is about a month away, with the town looking for veterans, residents, and local organizations to participate in the annual Memorial Day Parade.

The West Hartford Memorial Day Parade will be on Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m. downtown.

All veterans are welcome to march in the parade.

Meanwhile, community organizations may participate in the parade, especially those with a veteran or military focus or purpose.

"Please note that the Memorial Day Parade is not a platform for commercial advertising or political statements," wrote the town.

West Hartford's Memorial Day tradition "follows a tradition established by returning West Hartford veterans from World War I in the 1920s."

The Memorial Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 26, from the corner of Woodrow Street and Farmington Avenue, and ends at West Hartford Town Hall.

American Legion Post 96 and the Town of West Hartford said Lt. Colonel Seth M. Allen is the grand marshal for the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday.

He will also be the keynote speaker for the 10th annual inductees ceremony recognizing graduating high school students entering military service on Tuesday, May 27.
