West Hartford DPW Open House Aims To Fill Truck Full Of Food

WEST HARTFORD, CT — If you're curious about what the town's public works department is all about or have little ones who simply love a good truck, the town has the event for you.

The West Hartford Department of Public Works will hold its annual open house on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. until noon at its facility on 17 Brixton St., in observance of National Public Works Week.

This is a rain-or-shine event.

At the event, children can sit in big trucks and, at the same time, adults can get all their recycling questions answered and learn more about the "WeHa Parking Finder" and the "Food Scrap Recycling Program."

Meanwhile, attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for the West Hartford Food Pantry to help a neighbor in need.

West Hartford DPW is joining 34 other communities in Connecticut to fill a public works truck with food and household goods in support of local community food banks.
