West Hartford 'Farm Shares' Event To Lead To Fresh, Local Produce

A special 'Farm Shares' program will take place at Blue Back Square this week to help folks partake in a unique means of purchasing produce.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Folks interested in the concept of "Community Farm Shares" and how that can lead to fresher, locally-grown produce in your refrigerator should go to Blue Back Square this week.

That's because the shopping destination is hosting a "Community Farm Share" sign-up event at 42 Isham Road, West Hartford, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.

There, local vendors, farmers, educators, artists, and community leaders will host information sessions about farm shares, which is when folks pay a one-time fee to a farm and, in return, get a share of whatever crop is in season.
