West Hartford Bids Fond Farewell to Former Mayor
The community came together for a fundraising event to say goodbye to former Mayor Scott Slifka.

West Hartford, CT - Filled with fun and laughs, the community turned out to celebrate and say goodbye to the town's longest-serving mayor one last time at a Wednesday night fundraiser and roast.
On Wednesday, an estimated 150 folks came together to bid farewell and send off former Mayor Scott Slifka in style, according to The Hartford Courant.
The night featured a parody video that West Hartford Community Television created, The Courant reports. The farewell included a fundraiser for West Hartford Community Television and The Town That Cares, raising about $10,000.

Slifka, who was first elected to the Town Council in 2001 and served as deputy mayor from 2002 until being elected mayor in 2004 at the age of 30, announced in January that he would resign after the 2016-17 budget was adopted because he had been promoted to Deputy General Counsel of The LEGO Group.
