West Hartford's Park Road Parade Looking For Hometown Heroes
The annual Park Road Parade will take place Oct. 2. In the meantime, organizers are asking the public to help nominate West Hartford heroes.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Do you know a hometown hero in West Hartford? If you answered "yes," then parade organizers want to hear from you.
The Park Road Association recently announced that plans are underway for the 22nd annual Park Road Parade, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.
"After one-year hiatus due to the pandemic, this zany, wildly popular, anything-goes parade is back and will be better than ever," organizers said in a news release.

This year’s Park Road Parade will honor West Hartford heroes in education, health care and public safety who have kept the community safe and learning during the pandemic. Organizers are asking the public to nominate those West Hartford heroes from the following professions:
- Nurses, doctors and health care staff
- Police, fire and EMT professionals and staff
- Teachers and school staff
Simply send the name of your nominee, their affiliation, email and phone number, as well as a few sentences on why they should be honored in this year’s Park Road Parade to Anthony Landino at anthonyjlandino@gmail.com.

According to organizers, the Park Road Parade is a community parade that showcases everyone’s favorite clubs, organizations, schools, churches, bands, neighborhood groups, sport leagues, clowns, businesses, cool cars, and public officials. Parade participants range from sporting simple banners with marchers wearing uniform T-shirts to elaborate costumes, dance numbers and amazing floats. Want you to be part of it! Each year, awards are given to best float, best overall performance, best costume, best musical performance and best community spirit.
