1 Killed, Police Officer Seriously Injured In West Haven Crash: Report
Slippery road conditions Monday morning reportedly led to the crash.

WEST HAVEN, CT — One person was killed and a West Haven police officer was seriously injured early Monday in a two-vehicle crash on Derby Avenue in West Haven, the New Haven Register and WTNH-TV reported.
The crash occurred at about 2:20 a.m., when the driver of a Hyundai Elantra lost control of the vehicle in icy conditions and slammed into a police car that was parked at a Citgo gas station on Derby Avenue.
According to police, the driver of the Hyundai was also seriously injured in the crash; the person who was killed was a passenger in that vehicle.

West Haven police have not released the identity of the passenger who was killed.
Both the police officer and driver suffered head injuries, but are expected to recover.
