Back To School: West Haven 2025-26 School Calendar

WEST HAVEN, CT — Back-to-school planning has already begun in West Haven, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in West Haven Public Schools for the 2025-26 school year.

The first day of school for most students in West Haven is Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

• First Day: Aug. 27
• Labor Day, no school: Sept. 1
• Rosh Hashanah, no school: Sept. 23
• Yom Kippur, no school: Oct. 2
• Indigenous Day, no school: Oct. 13
• Election Day / Staff Professional Development, no school for students: Nov. 4
• Veterans Day, no school: Nov. 11
• Thanksgiving Break, no school: Nov. 27-28
• Winter Recess, no school: Dec. 24 – Jan. 2
• Martin Luther King Day, no school: Jan. 19
• Winter Break: Feb. 16 – 17
• Eid al-Fitr (no school for students, Professional Day for staff): March 20
• Good Friday, no school: April 3
• Spring Recess, no school: April 13-17
• Memorial Day, no school: May 25
• Projected Last Student Day: June 12

Note: Snow days will be added on after June 12: If there are more than 5 snow days or school closings, the BOE reserves the right to amend this calendar.
