Closure Of I-95 On-Ramp Starts Soon In West Haven
The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the on-ramp will be closed for a major construction project.

WEST HAVEN, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced this week that the Exit 43 on-ramp to I-95 North in West Haven will be closed for a major construction project.
The closure is scheduled to occur on Monday, July 21, 2025, and continue until November 2027, according to officials.
“Implementation of this closure will activate detour routes to provide motorists with access to I-95 northbound via Interchange 44 in New Haven,” officials wrote in an advisory. “Project 0156-0181 consists of the replacement of Bridge 00161 carrying I-95 over First Avenue and Bridge 00162 carrying I-95 over Metro North Railroad.”

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
The Exit 43 on-ramp to I-95 northbound which is located on First Avenue in West Haven will be closed on July 21, 2025, until November 2027. Motorists traveling to I-95 northbound may take the detour route to Interchange 44 via First Avenue southbound, Route 122 (Kimberly Avenue), and Ella T. Grasso Boulevard in New Haven.

Alternatively, motorists traveling to I-95 northbound may take the detour route to Interchange 44 via Campbell Avenue northbound, Boston Post Road, and Ella T. Grasso Boulevard in New Haven.
Traffic control signing patterns will guide motorists through the detour routes. A map of the detour routes is available for download from the project website at www.i95westhaven.com/traffic-detour-information.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
