1-95, Merritt Parkway Both Reopen After Crashes But Delays, Lane Closures Remain

NEW HAVEN COUNTY, CT — I-95 southbound in West Haven between exits 44 and 43, which had been closed for six hours due to an overturned tractor trailer has now reopened as of 8:25 a.m. Thursday.

And the Merritt Parkway, which had been briefly shutdown in Hamden has also reopened.

Numerous travel delays remain and some lane closures persist.

Here are the current conditions on I-95 and the Merritt Parkway in New Haven County via the CT DOT:

MERIDEN - Road Work on I-691 Eastbound between Exits 2B and 1A (2.3 miles) in effect today until 3:30 pm. The right shoulder is closed. Reported Thursday, April 10 at 9:21 am.

WATERBURY - Road Work on I-84 Westbound between Exits 25 and 18 (4.2 miles) in effect today until 3:30 pm. The right lane is closed. Reported Thursday, April 10 at 10:01 am.

SOUTHBURY - Road Work on I-84 Eastbound Exit 14 OFFRAMP in effect today until 3:30 pm. The left shoulder is closed. Reported Thursday, April 10 at 7:57 am.

WEST HAVEN - I-95 Southbound Exit 43 OFFRAMP CLOSED because of Crash. Reported Thursday, April 10 at 8:24 am.

NEW HAVEN - Road Work on RT 15 Northbound between Exits 59 and 61 (5.1 miles) in effect today until 4:00 pm. The left lane is closed. Reported Thursday, April 10 at 9:27 am.

Original post, which has been updated with new information above: WEST HAVEN, CT — Interstate 95 southbound is closed between exits 44 and 43 because of an overturned tractor trailer.

The accident was reported at 2 a.m. Thursday and the highway remains closed at this time. Numerous delays have been reported.

WFSB 3 TV reports that state crews have responded to address a fuel leak, and that no life-threatening injuries were reported in the crash. It's unclear how much longer the highway will be closed in West Haven.

Route 15 southbound is also closed in Hamden due to a multi-vehicle crash.

NEW HAVEN - Delays. I-95 Southbound is congested between Exits 48 and 44 (2.0 miles). Reported Thursday, April 10 at 7:24 am.

NORTH HAVEN - Delays. RT 15 Southbound is congested between Exits 63 and 60 (3.3 miles). Reported Thursday, April 10 at 7:36 am.

ORANGE - Delays. RT 15 Northbound is congested between Exits 56 and 60 (8.7 miles). Reported Thursday, April 10 at 7:50 am.

HAMDEN - RT 15 Southbound CLOSED between Exits 60 and 59 because of Crash (Multi Vehicle). Reported Thursday, April 10 at 7:52 am.
