Man Robbed Gas Station In Broad Daylight: West Haven Police
A man is accused of robbing a gas station in West Haven on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
WEST HAVEN, CT — A West Haven man is accused of robbing a gas station in the city on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
Police said that at around 3:15 p.m. Jan. 21 a man walked into the Shell gas station on Platt Avenue and demanded cash from the clerk.
The suspect followed the clerk to where the register was and demanded money, according to police.

“The clerk believed the suspect might have had a weapon on him so the clerk handed over the cash from the register,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “After the clerk gave the suspect the money, the suspect left. The clerk was unharmed during this incident.”
The suspect fled on Platt Avenue, and police said a description was broadcast to surrounding patrol cars.

As officers arrived in the area, police said they saw a man matching the suspect’s description.
Police said officers stopped and confronted the suspect who was walking on Platt Avenue.
The suspect was taken into custody after a brief struggle, according to police.
“A large amount of loose cash was located inside the suspect’s jacket pocket and pant pocket,” police wrote.
The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Joseph Marzano of West Haven.
Marzano was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, according to police.
