Obituary: Guillermo Miguel “Gill” Franceschi, 71, of West Haven
Gill, a loving and devoted family man and friend to many, was the co-owner and operator of the R&M Market in New Haven for nearly 40 years.

WEST HAVEN, CT - (From West Haven Funeral Home) Guillermo Miguel “Gill” Franceschi, age 71, of West Haven passed away on March 4, 2022, with his family by his side.
For 51 years, he was the devoted husband to the love of his life, Norma Frossasco Franceschi and often referred to their relationship as "the greatest thing to ever happen to me".
Gill was born in Argentina, son of the late Rafael and Claudina Franceschi.
He is also survived by his adoring children, Jacqueline (Joseph) Laird of Orange and William (Sherri) Franceschi of East Haven, his grandchildren, Serena DeMartino & Joslynn Laird both of Orange, Samantha, Adriana and Charlie Franceschi all of East Haven, his sister Guillermina Franceschi of Argentina, his sister-in-law Laura Maresca of West Haven, his nieces and nephews, Alejandro (Rosana) Nasivera & Mariel (Ricardo) Nasivera all of Argenitna, Jerry (Johanna) Giammugnani & Laurie Maresca all of West Haven, and his former brother-in-law Arturo Giammugnani of FL.
Gill was predeceased by his brother-in-law’s Louis Maresca and Ricardo Nasivera, and his in-laws Carlo Frossasco and Dominga Sosa and stepfather in-law Dionisio Sosa.
In 1971, Gill and Norma came to the United States to achieve their American dream.
He worked for 28 years as a plant engineer for Lenders Bagels and for the last 38 years he was the co-owner and operator, with his wife, of R & M Market, New Haven.
There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family, those were his most cherished moments.
His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned along with his pets that were always by his side Colita, Paris and Pepe. He was unendingly proud of his children, Jackie and Will.
He loved creating furniture with his woodwork, fishing, traveling with his wife, and soccer. We will miss his quick wit, his amazing sense of humor, the way he always had his music blasting throughout the house and seeing his beautiful green eyes light up around his grandchildren.
Anyone who knew Guillermo knew that he was the most loving husband and father a family could ask for and the friend you could always count on. He will be missed beyond measure, but his life, love and legacy will forever be carried on in his children and grandchildren.
The family would like to send a special thank you, for all the amazing care Gill received at Bridgeport Hospital, to Dr. Manuel DeAguirre, Dr. Jeffery Kwon, Dr. Marat Kribis, Dr. Vesna Buntak, the MICU and PCU teams, and especially to the entire Surgical ICU staff who also provided loving care and support to him and his family.
The hours for visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9;30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John XXIII Parish, Church of St. Louis at 10am.
