James J. Flannery, 84, of West Haven, beloved husband of Ellen J. Moran Flannery, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at Spring Village at Danbury. Loving father of Rosemary (Kevin) Ritch of Ridgefield and James B. (Michelle) Flannery of Bethany. Grandfather of Macie and Riley Flannery. Brother of John (Anne) Flannery of MA and the late Joseph Flannery and Helen Hunt. James was a native New Yorker born in the Bronx on May 11, 1941 son of the late Joseph J. and Helen Citelli Flannery. Prior to his retirement, James worked as a life insurance underwriter for Equitable Life Insurance Co.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven WEDNESDAY morning at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John XXIII Parish in St. John Vianney Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
