WEST HAVEN, CT — Joseph Theodore Genovese of West Haven passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Mary (Wendt) Genovese. Together they shared 60 years of love.
Beloved father of Joseph Genovese (Antoinette), Jody Ortiz (Steven) and Jamie Genovese (Kathleen). He is survived by his six cherished grandchildren Joseph Genovese Jr., Christina Kubasak, Jamie Genovese, Jake Genovese, Esteban Ortiz and JohnCarlos Ortiz. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph J. Genovese and Rose (Botte) Genovese.

Joseph served in the United States Marine Corps and had a long career at Gallo Wine. He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Yale Hospital and Veteran's Memorial Hospital.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven Tuesday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. John the XXIII Parish at St. Louis Church at 10:00. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Family and friends may call TUESDAY MORNING from 8:00-9:30. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
