Obituary: Marie A. Urbinati Acampora; Longtime West Haven Resident
She had a long career at, and retired from, the VA Hospital in West Haven as secretary to the head dietician.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Marie A. Urbinati Acampora (Mimi), a long-time West Haven resident, most recently living at Maplewood of Orange, entered into eternal rest November 30 at Connecticut Hospice, at the age of 88. She was born on February 1, 1937, daughter of the late Giovanni and Filomena Aniballi Urbinati.
She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Alphonse “Al” Acampora, and siblings Eugene Urbinati, John Urbinati and Adele Olivi. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews: David, Elisa, Gene, and Michael Urbinati; Lauretta and Ray Olivi; Kristin Bacon, Carol Chichester, Mary LeClair and many friends.

In 1954, she graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT and briefly worked at Wilbur Smith Associates, New Haven. She had a long career at, and retired from, the VA Hospital in West Haven as secretary to the head dietician.
Marie and Al enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad and were avid fans of the UCONN women’s basketball team. Equally enjoyable to them was time around their kitchen table visiting with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her many girlfriends and their “Birthday Club” celebrations over the years. The family would like to thank the personnel at Yale New Haven Hospital and Connecticut Hospice for their loving care and kindness.
