Officer Involved In Crash While Responding To Serious Crash In West Haven
A West Haven police officer was involved in a crash while responding to a serious crash that sent three people to the hospital on Saturday.
WEST HAVEN, CT — A West Haven police officer was involved in a crash while responding to a serious crash that sent three people to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, according to police.
The crash happened on Forest Road near Bristol Street.
Police said all three vehicles were traveling south on Forest Road when the at-fault vehicle smashed into the rear of a pickup truck. The impact forced the pickup truck to crash into the back of a BMW that was in front of it, according to police.

As the officer was responding to that crash, they sideswiped another vehicle while trying to maneuver through traffic, according to WFSB 3.
The police officer wasn’t injured in the crash, WFSB 3 reported.

The three drivers from the original crash were hospitalized with injuries that police said weren’t life-threatening.
The at-fault driver of that crash was issued a misdemeanor summons for following too closely and for not having insurance, according to police.
