Scooter Operator Dies After Crash In West Haven: Report: UPDATE

WEST HAVEN, CT — A scooter operator, who sustained serious injuries in a crash Thursday night, has died, according to WTNH News 8. An ID has not yet been released and authorities are calling it a hit-and-run crash, News 8 reported.


Original post: WEST HAVEN, CT — A scooter operator was hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash Thursday night in West Haven, according to police.

Police received several calls around 7:20 p.m. reporting a scooter accident in the area of First Avenue and Mix Avenue.

Upon arrival, police said West Haven Fire/Rescue was at the scene and had begun “life saving techniques” on the scooter operator.

The operator was taken to an area hospital due to his injuries, according to police.

A witness at the scene told police that the second vehicle (a car) involved failed to stop and render aid, instead got onto the highway and drove away from the scene, police said.

The WHPD Major Accident Squad was notified of this crash and assumed the investigation.

“First Avenue from Richard's St. to the First Ave, I95 entrance ramp is currently closed for the investigation and will remain closed until notice,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Please avoid this area if you can.”
