Boater Missing After Vessel Found Capsized Identified

Authorities are searching for a boater after a boating accident near the western break wall, police said.

The Coast Guard said the man is missing near New Haven after his 32-foot boat was found capsized and damaged. He was identified as Michael Murphy by the Coast Guard.

The vessel was found around 9:15 a.m. by a good samaritan.

One boater was rescued and taken to an area hospital while an active search is on for the second boater. West Haven police, fire along with Milford police are also involved in the search.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts Murphy is asked to call Sector Long Island Sound at 203-468-4401.
