Traffic Advisory Issued For Savin Rock Marathon In West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — Police are advising motorists that the 15th annual Savin Rock half and full marathon will take place on Saturday, March 29 in West Haven.

The event will start around 7:30 a.m. There is no rain date.

This event will consist of a 13-mile loop which will start and finish on the bike path near Oak Street. Runners who will be completing the full marathon will do this loop twice. Runners are advised to use the shoulder of the roadway and adhere to all traffic rules and regulations.

Due to the length of this course, runners will be spread out for several hours. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution while passing these runners.

Cones will be set up along the roadway to alert motorists of the running route. Police Officers, along with Public Service Officers, will also be assisting runners at critical areas along the route.

Start: 5 Rock Street (Jimmies) on bike path

Leg # 1- East on bike path to Second Avenue

Leg # 2- North on Second Ave to Main Street

Leg # 3- West on Main St to Savin Avenue

Leg # 4- South on Savin Ave to Capt. Thomas Boulevard

Leg # 5- West on Capt. Thomas to Kelsey Avenue

Leg # 6- North on Kelsey Avenue to Dark St./ Painter

Leg # 7- Painter Drive to Main Street

Leg # 8- West on Main to West Main continue to Allings Crossing

Leg # 9- North on Allings Crossing to Island Lane

Leg # 10- West on Island Lane to Benham Hill Road

Leg # 11- East on Benham Hill Road to Morgan Lane

Leg # 12- South on Morgan Lane to Shingle Hill Road

Leg # 13- East on Shingle Hill Road to Chase Lane

Leg # 14- South on Chase Lane to Jones Hill Road

Leg # 15- West on Jones Hill Road to Ocean Avenue

Leg # 16- East on Ocean Ave to bike path

Final leg- Bike path to 5 Rock Street.
