Occupation:

Researcher -Business Owner

Family:
Yes, my wife of 23 years and I recently became empty- nesters with the last of our 2 children going off to college this past August. Luckily our other "children", a husky/pitbull mix and 3 stray rescue cats chose to stay at home to keep us company.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
Proud of my wife who currently serves as secretary of the City of West Haven Board of Health.

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Grateful to be serving as the Chairman of the City of West Haven Fair Rent Commission. Previously working as Chairman and later Vice Chairman of the West Haven Planning and Zoning Commission, where I served for 16 years.

I am also serving as Justice of the Peace, having been first elected in 1999 and working as a volunteer firefighter in the Allingtown District for nearly 25 years.

Why are you seeking this office?
West Haven has been my home since age 5. After graduating from the school system and going away to college, I chose to come back and raise my family in this community.

I truly love this city, the people and all it has to offer.

West Haven has given me so much over the years, it's only fair that I reciprocate by giving back anyway, that I can.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
They are many issues a diverse city of 54,000 face, making it difficult to prioritize just one; however, bridging party lines in this day and age is extremely important. I am committed to bringing the conversation back to the middle to facilitate communication and problem solve together.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I respect all of the other candidates for their commitment to running for office. Not knowing them all personally, I cannot speak to our differences, but can tell you what I will bring to the City Council, if elected.

In addition to what I've shared with you, my experience in other areas would make me a well-rounded candidate to support our residents in all 10 districts.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Overall Mayor Borer and her staff have done an incredible job on economic development, growth and safety. If elected, I will assist and support the Mayor and fellow City Councilors with this going forward.

If I were to focus on something else in the city, it would be cleanliness and blight. Having served those many years on the Planning and Zoning Commission, I have seen some areas that need improvement and will commit to making it better.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
After nearly 3 decades, Mayor Borer re-established the Fair Rent Commission and called on me to serve as a commissioner, having over 20 years of housing experience. After being elected Chairman, my goal was to revamp and update the Commission. Together with my fellow commissioners, we are successfully achieving this, one case at a time.

During my tenure as Chairman and later Vice Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, I was instrumental in speeding up the application and public hearing process. In addition to that, I implemented Roberts Rules of Order to Commission meetings, allowing organizational discipline to our proceedings.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
It may sound cliché, but I was raised to adhere to the golden rule, and my grandmother always said, "Do what is right, even when no one is watching."

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
One thing people will tell you is if it has anything to do with West Haven, 9 times out of 10, I will be there. I do not need a title to support our community, but being elected to the City Council will allow me to have more of a voice to better serve it.

My goals as City Councilor-at-Large is to:

*Support our first responders and 911 dispatchers

*Invest in public education and youth sports and youth organizations

*Keep our neighborhoods and beaches clean and safe

*Tearing down partisan political barriers to collaborate and get the job done right!
