West Haven Election 2025 Voter Guide: Meet The Candidates
Here's what you need to know regarding the West Haven municipal election including the candidates, polling places, voting hours, and more.

WEST HAVEN, CT — On Nov. 4, West Haven residents will cast their votes for key municipal positions, including mayor, seats on the city council and board of education, along with city clerk, treasurer, tax collector and board of assessment appeals.

Election Day polling hours and locations

Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

If you are not registered, but want to vote on Election Day, you may register in person on Election Day at your Election Day Registration site People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration.

Here are the candidates:
Mayor
Incumbent Democratic Mayor Dorinda Borer is running unopposed for a second term in office.
City Council
For City Council, residents can vote for up to two At-Large candidates. The Democratic candidates are Sean Ronan and Peter Rivera. The Republican candidates are Meli Garthwait and Bobby Glass. Steven R. Mullins is running as an Independent Party candidate.
The City Council district races are as follows: 1st District) Democrat Anne Heffernan and Republican Peter Flynn; 2nd District) Democrat Nancy Tagliatela and Republican Bonnie Posick; 3rd District) Democrat Sarah Ackbarali and Republican Juan Ayala; 4th District) Democrat Gary Donovan and Republican Domenic Broccoli; 5th District) Democrat Edward McMillian and Republican Bob Wittkofske; 6th District) Democrat Dawn Callahan and Republican Michelle Konareski; 7th District) Democrat Kathy Tucker is running unopposed; 8th District) Democrat Christopher Vargo Jr. and Republican Victor Borras; 9th District) Democrat David Beaton and Republican Jeff Christman; 10th District) Democrat Ronald Quagliani is running unopposed.
Board of Education
For Board of Education, residents can vote for up to three candidates. The Democratic candidates are: Jeffrey Moreno, Kim Kenny, and Patrick Egolum. The Republican candidates are: Rosa M. Richardson, Dominic Konareski, and Linda Borras.
City Clerk
The candidates for City Clerk are Democrat John Lewis and Republican Tom Green.
Treasurer
For Treasurer, the candidates are Democrat Rosemary Russo and Republican Dave Riccio.
Tax Collector
The candidates for Tax Collector are Democrat Eric Murillo and Republican David Driver.
Board of Assessment Appeals
For Board of Assessment Appeals, residents can vote for up to two candidates. The Democratic candidates are Suzanne Mink and Joseph Harvey. The Republican candidates are Silvana Apicella and Kris Petrucci.
Judge of Probate
Democrat Timothy Gunning is running unopposed to fill a vacancy as Judge of Probate.
