Woman Drove Recklessly Through West Haven, Eluded Police: State PD
A woman was arrested after police said she was driving recklessly through West Haven and engaged police in a pursuit.
WEST HAVEN, CT — A 24-year-old Hamden woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she was driving recklessly through West Haven and engaged police in a pursuit.
A state trooper saw a 2022 BMW X3M going through a red light and driving approximately 70 mph on side roads throughout West Haven around 8 a.m. on Jan. 1, according to Connecticut State Police.
Police said the trooper activated their emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop.

The vehicle continued driving at slow speeds, but police said the driver ultimately complied and pulled over to the right shoulder on Campbell Avenue in West Haven.
“Upon the Trooper exiting their cruiser, the operator accelerated in an attempt to elude the traffic stop,” police wrote in a news release. “In the interest of public safety, the Trooper terminated efforts to pursue the vehicle, and registration information was obtained.”

After speaking with the registered owner of the vehicle, police said troopers identified the driver as a 24-year-old Hamden resident, who later admitted to being the driver at the time of the incident.
The woman was arrested and charged with reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, and interfering with an officer. She was released after posting a $1,000 bond with a court date of Jan. 29.
