Party Affiliation:
Democrat

Occupation:
I am an independent insurance agent selling Medicare and long-term care insurance.

Family:
Married for 38 years to Elizabeth Katz. Two sons, Peter and Benjamin Katz.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Constable for 8 years

Why are you seeking this office?
To actively participate in Town activities and stay abreast of current town issues. I want to be involved, on some levels, in the Town government. I work full-time so my time is limited, but this gives me a way to stay connected to the Town.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
As the Constable position is largely ceremonial in nature, this doesn’t really apply. However, I support keeping the current fabric of the Town with only modest progressive changes that makes sense (e.g., upgrading the new EMS building.)

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
All my good competitors are fine, upstanding citizens. I think I stand out because of my eight years as a Constable and my other civic involvement that stands above the crowd. If the Easton Democratic Town Committee is willing to put up my candidacy for Constable, it stands to reason that all the other Democratic candidates are by far the best candidates for their respective positions.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Our official role, as defined by state statue is to “Keep the public peace ,” I’ll work as best I can to uphold that pledge.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I believe you should be informed and active in the town you live in so you can stay up-to-date and make informed decisions about town issues. I have been active in the town on many levels’ for years. My civic involvement includes the Easton AYSO, Easton Little League, the Historical Society of Easton, Easton Democratic Town Committee, the Easton Senior Center, active involvement when my
kids were in Easton public schools, the Easton Racquet Club, and I’m currently the Chairman of the Fire Commission of Easton.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Count that day lost you don’t learn something new.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
While the position of Constable has little formal responsibilities, I do take it seriously to be included on the Democratic ticket.
