WESTON, CT — The Weston History & Culture Center will host a special exhibit opening and lecture titled "May I Have This Dance?" on Saturday, May 31 at 2 p.m., featuring noted social dance historian Susan de Guardiola.

The event explores the evolution of social dance and music during the early 20th century, from the sinking of the Titanic through World War I. De Guardiola will discuss the origins of ballroom staples like the tango and foxtrot, as well as lesser-known dance crazes such as the Grizzly Bear and Maxixe.

The accompanying exhibit, also curated by de Guardiola, includes original dance manuals, vintage sheet music, and authentic dance cards from the era. Visitors can browse the collection while listening to a curated ragtime soundtrack from the 1910s.

Admission is free for members and $10 for non-members. Seating is limited, and advance registration is encouraged. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows.

The Weston History & Culture Center is located at 104 Weston Road, with parking and entrance via High Acre Road. More information is available at the Center's website or by calling 203-226-1804.
