Weston Memorial Day Parade To Honor Gary Clayton As Grand Marshal

Weston's Memorial Day Parade on May 26 will honor veteran Gary Clayton as Grand Marshal; parade begins at 10:45 a.m. and ends at Town Hall.

WESTON, CT — Weston’s annual Memorial Day Parade will take place Monday, May 26, with U.S. Army veteran and longtime volunteer Gary Clayton named as this year’s Grand Marshal.

The parade, organized by the Weston Volunteer Fire Department, begins at 10:45 a.m. in front of Weston High School and proceeds down School Road to Route 57, before turning onto Norfield Road and ending at the Town Hall campus. A memorial ceremony will follow on the Town Green.

Clayton, a Sacramento, CA, native, volunteered for the draft in 1971 and served with the U.S. Army Berlin Brigade in West Berlin, Germany. He rose to the rank of sergeant and led an 81mm mortar squad during his six years of service.

Since 2005, Clayton has been an active member of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department and also serves with Weston Volunteer EMS.

The event will conclude with complimentary hot dogs at the firehouse. Town officials are encouraging residents to attend and show their support for veterans and community volunteers.
