Concession Stand 'Hook'D On The Sound' Opens At Compo Beach
Hook'd on the Sound, which was delayed in opening due to the coronavirus pandemic, is operated by Upsilon Entertainment Group LLC.

WESTPORT, CT — Hook'd on the Sound, the new concession stand at Westport's Compo Beach, opened over the weekend as a food truck on the side of the building that used to house the former concession stand Joey's by the Shore.
Like so many other things in 2020, thank the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic for the delay in the new concession opening earlier this season, Westport Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Fava said in an email to Patch.
"The food truck is only due to the delay due to covid, and that the interior has to be completely fitted out as everything (equipment etc.) that had been in there belonged to the previous tenant," Fava said, referring to the building where Joey's was located for 30 years. "Currently, it is essentially an empty space. The food truck was the way to get them open for at least a portion of this season."

Hook'd on the Sound is owned by Upsilon Entertainment Group LLC, which won the bid for the concession in the spring. In addition to the Compo concession, the Larchmont, New York-based group also will run the Longshore golf course cafe, which it will open next week, and the concession at the Longshore Pavilion pool/skating rink, according to Fava.
The group is paying the town $100,000 per year for five years, or 10 percent of gross revenue, whichever is higher, in the first year. The contract increases annually to $120,000 or 12 percent of gross revenue, in the final year. Additionally, there are options for more years if all goes well, writes the news blog 06880.

Kalynn Dong, one of the partners of Hook'd on the Sound, told Patch the renovations on the Compo building will take place this winter and will be completed in time for next season.
"We have all three concessions, which means it'll be a year-round effort," Dong said.
At Compo, Hook'd currently is offering a slightly pared down menu of beach favorites, such as a Lobster Roll Maine Style ($19.99); Fish & Chips ($16.99); the Signature Cheeseburger ($7.99); and an Egg Sandwich On Brioche (starting at $3.99), among other fare.
The concession also serves snacks, ice cream, Italian ice and popsicles, smoothies, beverages and other treats.
