Decision Reached On Swimming At Westport's Compo Beach
The beach has been closed to swimming since late last week, due to elevated levels of bacteria in the water.

WESTPORT, CT — Swimming is no longer prohibited at Compo Beach in Westport on Wednesday, after the popular beach was closed to swimming last week due to elevated levels of bacteria.
"We are pleased to share that the swimming area at Compo Beach has reopened!" officials with town Parks and Recreation Department wrote in a statement. "Resample testing conducted by the Aspetuck Health District has confirmed that water quality levels are now within safe and acceptable limits for public swimming. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during the temporary closure."
Testing of the water was done on Monday, and the samples had to be analyzed, which took until Wednesday.
