The workshop is presented by Westport Public Schools, and will be held at the Westport Library.
News Release from Westport Public Schools:
WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Public Schools and the Westport Public Library will host the "Ignite Learning with a Growth Mindset" workshop on October 16 as an opportunity for the broader community to join the district on its journey to support students, faculty and staff to leave behind a fixed mindset and embrace the Growth Mindset of continuous development by valuing the process of learning.
At the workshop, Sylvia del Carmen Roberts, Ph.D. and a consultant with Mindset Works, will share the power of Growth Mindset in education and personal development. Participants will learn how the beliefs we hold about our abilities shape our lives in significant ways, and how to apply this knowledge to support both their own success and that of their children.

"Growth mindset is not just about academic achievement—it's a life skill that can benefit everyone," says CJ Shamas, Physical Education at SHS and co-chair of the district's Growth Mindset initiative. "This workshop will provide practical strategies for embracing challenges, persisting in the face of setbacks, and viewing effort as the path to mastery."
A key component of the district’s strategic plan, the Growth Mindset curriculum will be integrated across Westport schools this year with a focus on building the foundation for stimulating the Growth Mindset belief systems. Subsequent years will expand the curriculum opportunities for students and include ongoing auditing of policies and practices to ensure alignment with Growth Mindset tenets.
