It’s a thin week with the holiday and most government offices and community organizations, including libraries, closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Here are some things happening in the area this week:

Great White Shark (11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. Tuesday at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, 10 North Water St., Norwalk): “No other modern animal may command both our fears and fascination as much as the great white shark – but The Maritime Aquarium’s new IMAX film suggests, instead, that these incredible predators mainly need our help and respect.”

Watch real steam rise from a model train that travels around an elevated track. Collector Harvey Campbell will share his knowledge and enthusiasm about how these unique trains work.”

Tech Help With Those New Gadgets and Gizmos (3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road, Westport): “Did you receive a new iPad, Nook, tablet for the holidays this year? Bring it into the Library and let us show you how to download Library ebooks, audiobooks, or music on your gadget.”
