Westport Woman Arrested for Writing $30,000 Worth of Bad Checks
Lynn Marie Scalafani, 50, is also facing similar, but unrelated, charges, according to police.

A 50 year-old woman was arrested on Friday after allegedly obtaining over $30,000 in home furnishings and artwork by fraudulently writing checks for the items on her checking account, which did not have the funds available, according to police.
All of the victim's businesses were located in Westport and ranged from large chain stores to smaller boutiques, police said. At the time of the arrest, the suspect—Lynn Marie Scalafani of 53 West Parish Road—was appearing at court for proceedings on other similar but unrelated charges.

Scalafani was charged with first-degree larceny and issuing a bad check. She was held in lieu of her court set bond of $21,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court on April 15.
