(courant.com) — A proposal to turn the historic Chester Bulkley House in Old Wethersfield into an upscale Sicilian-style restaurant has been rejected by the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission after strong neighborhood concerns over traffic, parking, and intensity of use. Supporters argued it would enhance the mixed-use district, but commissioners ultimately sided with residents worried about safety, noise, and preserving the area’s historic character. 
• Wethersfield's Winter Lights Contest hopes to brighten up the town (wtnh.com) — Wethersfield’s new Winter Lights Contest is underway, with commercial properties lighting up nightly from Jan. 12–23 for judging and a chance at cash prizes that also benefit local nonprofits. Residents can enjoy displays between 6 and 9 p.m., with categories like Winter Wonderland and Classic Wethersfield, and town officials urging everyone to support participating local businesses.
