A Wilton estate along a key Revolutionary War route has been listed for $1.99M ahead of America's 250th anniversary.

WILTON, CT — A Wilton property steeped in Revolutionary War history has been listed for $1,999,000, as the nation prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026.
Located at 721 Ridgefield Road, the 5,018-square-foot estate sits on land where Continental forces clashed with British troops in April 1777 during a pivotal battle in Connecticut’s fight for independence. The home is listed by Sheila Higgins of Brown Harris Stevens.

Originally built in 1880 as a livery stable and carriage house, the five-bedroom, five full and two half-bath home has since been transformed into a modern residence featuring an in-ground Gunite pool, historic outbuildings, and landscaped grounds on 1.8 acres.

The property stands along the British retreat route after their raid on a Continental Army munitions depot in Danbury. American troops, including those led by General Benedict Arnold and General David Wooster, engaged British forces in Ridgefield. Wooster was killed in the battle, and Arnold’s troops pushed the British back along Ridgefield Road.

Once a taxi hub and later a goat farm, the estate retains its original goat barn, now used as a sculpture studio. The neighboring blacksmith complex was converted into a home where author Ira Levin wrote "Rosemary’s Baby."
