Motorist Lucky To Be Alive Tops Wilton Police Blotter Nov. 18-24

WILTON, CT — Police are investigating the cause of a motor vehicle accident that sent one motorist to Norwalk Hospital on Nov. 17.
Police say Luis Pesantez, 52, of Norwalk, was traveling southbound on Danbury Road around 3:47 a.m. in the area of 470 Danbury Road when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane. The vehicle then hit a curb on the northbound side, ran off the road, struck a wooden pole, hit a tree, and flipped over, before landing again right side up.

Wilton officers pulled over a Subaru Legacy they say was speeding northbound on Danbury Road at around 12:48 the morning of Nov. 24.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Nov. 23, Wilton police pulled over 2023 Land Rover Defender 110 which was speeding northbound on Danbury Road while having difficulty maintaining its lane, according to their report.
The driver, Jessica Melo, 38, of Grassy Plain Street in Bethel, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police.
Melo failed to perform the standardized field sobriety tests to standard, and submitted to chemical testing. The results of the testing indicated blood alcohol levels of 0.0898 and 0.0732 consecutively, according to the police report. In Connecticut, the legal blood alcohol content (BAC) limit for driving is 0.08 percent for those 21 and older.
Police charged Melo with speeding, DUI, and failure to stay in the proper lane. She paid7 percent of her $300 bond and was scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 16.
At around 10 minutes before 2 a.m. on Nov. 21, police pulled over a 2019 Honda Civic they say was speeding on Danbury Road.
Further investigation by the police indicated the driver, Edwin Gonzalez, 33, of Union Avenue in Danbury, was wanted on two warrants for failing to appear in court for charges brought by both the Wilton and Darien Police Departments. Each charge had court set bonds of $10,000.
Gonzalez was taken into custody without incident, and paid 7 percent cash for each bond. He was scheduled to appear at the Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 5.
