Stamford Police Arrest Alleged Child Predators

Youth Bureau Sgt. Joseph Kennedy of the Stamford Police Department announced Wednesday the arrest of two separate alleged child predators over the last two days.

Stamford police arrested two seperate incidents with child predation links. 

Victor Bejarando, 46, of Whitmore Ln. was arrested and charged Wednesday afternoon with 2 counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor for an alleged relationship with a 14-year-old acquaintance.

Authorities said Bejarando allegedly preyed on the child for 6 to 7 months before the relationship was discovered.

When arrested at his workplace, authorities said he had a plane ticket to Columbia and his passport on his person. 

Bejarando has a bond of $250,000 and a court date of May 16th.

Omar Vargas, 23, of the 100 block of Southfield Ave., was arrested Tuesday night on a warrant during a traffic stop in Darien. Vargas was allegedly involved in a December 2010 incident in which he'd fondled a 13-year-old girl while she was sleeping, authorities said.

The incident came to light in May of 2011 when the girl informed a school counselor.

When the incident was discovered, Vargas had left his residence and his whereabouts were unknown for a time, police said. The warrant for his arrest popped up during the motor vehicle stop and he was taken in to custody.

Vargas' bond is set at $25,000 and he has a court date of May 14th. He faces charges of sex with a victim under 15 years old and illegal sexual contact with a victim under the age of 16.
