Wilton Police Arrest Log Highlights For Jan. 6 - 12

WILTON, CT — Wilton police nabbed two motorists for drinking and speeding last week.
Ar 12:24 a.m. on Jan. 9, Wilton officers say they clocked a 2016 Fiat Abarth travelling 60 mph in a 35 mph zone on Danbury Road near the intersection with Westport Road.
After pulling the car over, police say they learned the driver, Robert Geary, 58, of Algonquin Road in Fairfield, had been drinking alcoholic beverages prior to driving.

Geary did not perform field sobriety tests to standard, was arrested, and brought back to Wilton police HQ for processing. There, police discovered his blood alcohol content was, consecutively, 0.2068 percent and 0.2030 percent. In Connecticut, the legal blood alcohol content limit for driving is 0.08 percent for those 21 and older.
Police charged Geary with DUI and speeding, and scheduled him to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 21. He was released after he paid 7 percent of his $300 bond.

Around 12:30 in the morning on Jan. 12, Wilton police pulled over an Audi A5 Quattro they say was speeding northbound on Danbury Road.
The driver, Gustavo Zavala, 38, of New Milford, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police. The motorist admitted to drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel, and failed to perform the standardized field sobriety tests to standard, according to the police report.
Following his arrest for DUI, Zavala submitted to chemical testing, which showed consecutive BAC levels of 0.0959 and 0.0806.
Police charged Zavala with DUI, speeding and driving with a suspended license. He was released after he paid 7 percent of his $300 bond, and scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 24.
